What Happens If A Member Retires But Dies Within Some Years Of Retirement
When a member dies within five years of retirement, the following benefits accrue
- A once-off lump sum (balance of the five-year annuity) that will be paid to the member’s beneficiaries, as per the nomination form paid to the deceased member’s estate, if a deceased member did not have beneficiaries, and
- A monthly pension that is paid to the deceased member’s spouse(spousal annuity)

What Is Spouse Annuity/ Life Partner Pension
Is a monthly pension or annuity only paid to the spouse or life partner of a member or pensioner who has died? It is not paid to other dependants or beneficiaries who may have been named on the Nomination of Beneficiaries form.
