How Do I Claim GEPF Unclaimed Benefits?

Unclaimed benefits refer to situations where both the reason for a member’s departure from the Fund and their last day of service are known, yet the benefit has not been paid to the member or their beneficiary within 24 months of that last day, as stipulated by the Fund’s rules.

The majority of unclaimed benefits arise from issues such as rejected documentation, difficulties in identifying beneficiaries, tax matters related to the member, incorrect banking details, family disputes over death claims, employee abscondment, or pending disciplinary actions.

To check if you have unclaimed benefits with the GEPF, you can visit their website, where they have published a list of employees who have not claimed their benefits. This list is organized by province and can be accessed at www.gepf.co.za.
