What Is The Maximum UIF Payout Per Month

The UIF(Unemployment Insurance Fund) in South Africa provides interim financial ease to employees who lose their jobs or are unable to work due to health issues, maternity, or any other eligible reasons. The maximum payout for UIF per month is based on the percentage of the employee’s remuneration, up to a certain ceiling. The payout is calculated at a sliding scale, employees with lower earners receive a higher percentage of the remuneration compared to higher earners.

What Do We Mean By UIF

UIF which stands for Unemployment Insurance Fund is a social security designed to provide short-term financial backing to employees who are temporarily unable to earn an income for themselves due to unemployment. Employers and employees contribute to the UIF every month, with each contributing 1% of the employee’s remuneration when an employee loses their job they can claim from the UIF to assist cover some expenses while they are out of jobs.

Claimant to enroll as a work-seeker with the Department of Employment and Labour
Employees who lose income as a result of reduced work can claim unemployment benefits

UI.19 form
Salary Schedule
Registration as work-seeker
Periodic continuation form(UI 6A form) to be submitted every month
In case of a voluntary severance package or early retirement, a UI2.11 form is required
