Durban University of Technology Online Application Status 2027-2028

Durban University of Technology Online Application Status 2027-2028

Durban University of Technology Online Application Status 2027-2028

DUT Application Status 2027-2028: Check Online | CAO Guide:

If you are a Grade 12 learner, parent, or returning student planning to study at the Durban University of Technology for the 2027 academic year, this guide gives you everything you need to track your application status correctly and avoid common mistakes that cost students their space.

At DUT, application status is the live update you see on the Central Applications Office (CAO) portal or on DUT’s iEnabler system that tells you where your application stands. It shows whether DUT has received your documents, if you are still being considered, if you have a provisional or firm offer, or if you need to take urgent action.

For the 2027-2028 intake, DUT handles all first-time undergraduate applications through CAO only. That means your first and most important status check must happen on www.cao.ac.za. You only use iEnabler after CAO shows Firm Offer and DUT issues you a student number.

Many students lose their place because they wait for an email that never comes or they check the wrong portal. Others panic when their status says Received for weeks, not knowing that Health Sciences and Engineering faculties assess in batches and take longer. This article walks you through the exact steps used when learners track their status, what every CAO code means for DUT, and how to fix the four problems that come up every year.

It also cover what to do in the 72 hours after you get accepted, because deadlines are tight and late action means you lose your space. All dates and processes are based on official DUT and CAO information for the 2027 intake.

Durban University of Technology Online Application Date 2027-2028

  • October 2026. Higher fees apply, and many DUT programmes will be full. Residence Applications Close: Usually the same as the academic closing date
  • First Status Updates Released: CAO typically starts releasing from October 2026 onward
  • Registration Week 2027: Typically late January to early February 2027

Durban University of Technology Online Application Status Check 2027-2028

Method 1: Via CAO Portal Step-by-Step:

  • Understand the status: See the list under Understanding Your DUT Application Status Codes below.

Method 2: Via DUT Student Portal iEnabler:

Only use this after CAO says Firm Offer. You need your DUT student number.

  • Log in: Student Number + PIN. First-time users click New Applicant to create a PIN.

Understanding Your Durban University of Technology Application Status Codes
CAO uses standard codes for all KZN universities, including DUT. Below is what they mean for you and what to do next:

Received:

CAO got your application and payment. DUT has not assessed it yet.

  • Next action: Wait. Check that all documents were uploaded correctly.

Pending Documents:

CAO or DUT needs documents from you.

  • Next action: Log in, click Outstanding Documents, upload certified ID, and Grade 11 or 12 results now.

Awaiting Results:

DUT is waiting for the final Grade 12 results from DBE.

  • Next action: Do nothing until January 2027. Make sure your exam number is correct on CAO.

Provisionally Accepted:

You meet the minimum requirements based on Grade 11. Offer depends on final matric results.

  • Next action: Keep your marks up. This is not a final offer yet.

Firm Offer:

DUT has accepted you. You have a space if you meet the conditions.

  • Next action: Accept on CAO within 3 to 5 days, or you lose it.

Waitlisted:

You qualify, but the programme is full. You may get a space if others decline.

  • Next action: Accept other offers. Monitor weekly. Contact DUT after final results release.

Unsuccessful:

You do not meet the requirements, or spaces are full.

  • Next action: Apply for late options or consider extended programmes. Appeal only if an error was made.

Cancelled:

You withdrew or did not respond to an offer in time.

  • Next action: You cannot reverse this on CAO. Contact DUT Admissions directly.

Common Durban University of Technology Application Status Problems & Fixes
These are the 4 issues I see every year from students and parents:

Status not updating for weeks:

  • Why it happens: DUT faculties assess in batches. Health Sciences and Engineering take the longest.
  •
Fix: If received for 8+ weeks, email CAO: enqgeneralcao@cao.ac.za with your CAO number. Do not submit a second application.

Pending documents, but I already uploaded

  •
Why it happens: File too large, blurry, or not certified. CAO rejects it, but the portal does not always tell you.
  •
Fix: Upload PDFs under 2MB, clearly certified within the last 3 months. Name the file: “ID_YourSurname.pdf”. Call CAO to manually clear.

Wrong cell number or email on CAO:

  • Why it happens: Typos during registration mean you miss the offer SMS.
  • Fix: Log in to CAO > Change Contact Details. If locked out, phone CAO: +27 31 268 4444. Update both CAO and, later on, iEnabler.

CAO says Firm Offer, but no email from DUT

  • Why it happens: DUT only emails after you accept on CAO, and DUT loads the data. This takes 48 to 72 hours.
  • Fix: Accept the offer on CAO first. Then wait 3 days and check iEnabler. Check spam for emails from @dut.ac.za.

Submit Final Matric Results:

  • CAO pulls automatically, but uploads to iEnabler if asked.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. When will DUT 2027 application status be available?

  • CAO starts releasing statuses from October 2026 in batches. Most Firm Offers appear after the final matric results in January 2027. Check weekly.

2. What does “Provisionally Accepted” mean at DUT?

  •
It means you qualify based on Grade 11 results. DUT will make it a Firm Offer if your final matric results meet the programme APS and subject requirements.

3. Can I check my DUT status without a CAO number?

  •
No. All 2027 undergraduate statuses are on CAO first. If you lost your CAO number, recover it at www.cao.ac.za or call +27 31 268 4444.

4. Why is my DUT status still Received in November?

  • High-demand courses like Nursing and Engineering take longer. If it shows Received past 8 weeks, email CAO with your ID and programme code.

5. Does DUT send acceptance letters by SMS?

  •
CAO sends an SMS when your status changes to Firm Offer. DUT will then email you to your CAO email address. DUT never asks for payment via SMS.

6. What is the DUT application 2027 closing date?

  • General closing date is 30 September 2026. Some programmes close earlier due to space. Apply before 1 August 2026 to be safe.

7. Can I edit my course choices after applying to DUT?

  • Yes, on CAO before the closing date. Log in and click “Change of Mind”. You pay R120 for each change after the first submission.

8. My DUT status says Unsuccessful. Can I appeal?

  • You can request a remark only if you believe there was an admin error. Email admissions@dut.ac.za with proof. No appeals for not meeting APS

Checking your Durban University of Technology online application status for 2027-2028 does not have to be stressful if you use the right portal at the right time. Start with CAO at www.cao.ac.za from October 2026, because that is where DUT posts every update first. Only move to iEnabler once you have a Firm Offer and a student number. Understand that “Provisionally Accepted” is not final, “Waitlisted” needs weekly checks, and “Pending Documents” means you must act today. The biggest mistakes students make are waiting for emails, using the wrong login details, and missing the 3 to 5-day window to accept an offer. Save CAO’s number, +27 31 268 4444, and DUT Admissions, +27 31 373 2286, in your phone now. Set a reminder to check your status every Monday until registration. If your status has not moved in 8 weeks, or if you see “Unsuccessful” but your marks meet the prospectus requirements, contact CAO and DUT immediately with your CAO number and certified documents. For 2027, applications open 1 March 2026 and close 30 September 2026 for most programmes. Apply early, upload clear documents, and track your status yourself.
